replaced components in HP hand-me-down

This is my problem..I had another computer from another competitor and the power button went out. I received a HP Pavilion PU129AV with out a hard drive.So i replaced the memory and the optical drives . The SATA hard drive from my broken computer wnet into the HP. everything runs turn on start but i get no communication through VGA to the monitor. So how do i fix this ..is there more part i need to replace, format my HDD.

 

I cant do anything if i cant see the screen

 

the computer is a HP Pavilion PU129AV  Windows XP

You have done an excellent job putting together the unit. All you need now is a valid OS. HP motherboards are tattooed. That usually prevents a foreign OS (non HP OEM) from loading. The simple cure is the correct install disks: http://www.computersurgeons.com/SearchProducts.aspx?sbt=a1010y&bkm=Results#Results

 

Warning: XP Media Edition will require a DVD drive. XP Home and XP Pro were meant for a CD drive.
