upgrade p7 1050tc i3 2100 to i7 2600s ?

Can I upgrade  an Hp p7 1050tc  Product number: LW148AV win 7 64 bit  with intel i3 2100 to an  i7 2600s processor both are 65 watt.   Upgrade info lists  up to an i5.  Pegatron Carmel motherboard specs on HP website say i7 2600s is   supported has LGA1155 socket with h67 chipset  mb bios 5.1 will the installed HP firmware /motherboard bios  support an i7

Re: upgrade p7 1050tc i3 2100 to i7 2600s ?

Hi,

There is conflicting information posted by HP for processor upgrades for your PC, product number LW148AV.  I don't see any mentioned for the H67 chip set listed on the support pages for the p7-1050t.  I see the H61 chip set listed.

There is a later bios level posted

Re: upgrade p7 1050tc i3 2100 to i7 2600s ?

My error i should have posted h61 chioset I saw the later bios but info did not indicate supported processors

I was wondering if HP had a custom bios restricted to certain processor support or was HP  using a Pegatron supplied bios .

Re: upgrade p7 1050tc i3 2100 to i7 2600s ?

Hi,

I have alerted HP to the discrepancy with the documentation and asked if the Intel i7-2600s is supported.

Yes, the Carmel board can support the i7-2600S processor. The h8-1027c has that configuration...so the motherboard specifications are correct. The S suffix at the end indicates that it can operate at a lower 65W wattage.... It must be the S type.

@Raserblaster,

It would be nice to see HP update the documentation to reflect support for the 2600s.

Is a bios update and regression testing needed?

Re: upgrade p7 1050tc i3 2100 to i7 2600s ?

Thanks to all that replied .

Another question is  : I  upgraded  the origional  power supply to a 550w unit the origional failed after a power outage. So I was curious if the carmel MB would support a 95 watt cpu with the p/s upgrade or is that still  limited to 65 watts   by the motherboard ? Some of i5-i7 cpu's at 95 watts are stock clocked a little higher and easier to find than an i7 2600s

best regards .
