I realize that is a free download from Microsoft.  Is it really more efficient than McAfee, Norton etc.?

For most of us MSE provides adequate protection against viruses and spyware.

It definitely uses less system resources than McAfee or Norton, and that results in a faster running PC.

I will take the slight risk that MSE isn't as good as McAfee or Norton for the better performance any day of the week.
