They are pretty much alike in their functions. The IR blaster is a device that allows your remote control signal to be received via the sensor you connect to the back of the PC but place the receptor in the front. There is a little sticky tape that will allow you to afix it to your PC or monitor. Poin the remote at it and you can control some functions. The Airbrush 2 is also a wireless remote receiver for remote control use with the PC. This is for use in the Media Center mode where the user can use their remote to control some PC functions. See the getting started manual here. Go to Page 24 for more information.

thank you for the information. i had the same question.
my receiver does not have a usb connector as in the diagram, but a bright orange (is that red) jack like a video jack. i can't figure out what to plug it into. any suggestions?

Not knowing your computer - mine connect in the back on a PCIe card that is low on the back panel. One red and one black connection.

Thank you!!!!! i have been looking at the back of the computer all this time, and missed that entire row of ports. Whew!
