wintv was working before-any way to check if dead?

WinTV in my m8200n (Vista)is not being recognized all of a sudden - media center reports 'no tuner installed'. Anything to check before assuming card is dead?

Sorry you're having this problem with WinTV.

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver from the Device Manager.

If that doesn't work then you might try re-seating the card.  (If these instructions seem demeaning to you and your expertise, I apologize.  They are not intended as such, but since I don't know you or your level of skill I'm trying to play it safe.)

Uninstall the driver from the Device Manager then shut off the PC and unplug the power cord.

Did I mention shutting off the PC and unplugging the power cord?

Remove the PC cover so that you can access the TV tuner card.  Make sure that you maintain contact with the metal case to prevent static build up.  Carefully remove the TV tuner card from the PCI slot.  Then carefully reseat the card in the PCI slot.  If nothing is in the other PCI slot you may want to reseat the card in that one.  Then put the PC cover back on, plug the PC in and restart.  See if it will locate the card and install the proper driver now.

Hopefully this will let you know whether your TV tuner card has gone bad or not.
