Well I gave HP the opportunity and as other disgruntles customers found out HP does not want to do anything to make things right. $629 is their only solution. Saw some LCD 42" TV's in the sales guide for $599. I will never give another dime to HP unless they decide to make things right.

Wasn't there a link to a lawsuit site on here? It seems they don't care about this issue...unless there's some litigation about it.
Rondo, before you go spend $600 on a new TV, check out Consumer Reports. They have some great reviews of TVs, NONE of them from HP. I also just sent my Y SUS board to the electronics place on Saturday, and should get it back by the end of the week. I'll update this thread with the progress on my problem, and it might be a way to (temporarily) fix the issue for you.
I'm also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I recommend that you all do the same.

Hey, before I mess around with my the back of my t.v. Do you think you could tell me if I have to take off the whole back of the t.v. or just the rectangle part at the bottom of the t.v. Thanks.
(i'm not good with electronics...eekk...)

Same problem here - it happened about a month ago. Same $629 offer from HP. Looks like this particular thread may be the best advertising PTS Electronics ever got. I'll be giving them a call later today.
Based on what I've been reading here, it looks like we all bought these televisions three years ago, which would be just as they were introduced. It's a pity that we all bought them on HP's reputation, only to be disappointed in so many ways.
HP can rest assured they've done an excellent job of making certain I never again buy another of their products, and do all I can to prevent others from doing so, as well.

My HP TV went out this wkend.
Had the caple company in and was informed it was the TV.
Bought it Dec 2007 and now it's junk...no picture at all.
It's just a big overpriced radio.
Called HP and went thru the phone check list. Was told is a $600 fix.
I'm at work now taking an inventory of all HP products we have and will replace them all
if that's the best this company is willing to do on a 2 yr. old product.
I even called the retailer I bought the tv from...they no longer carry HP televisions.
HP seems to be another company just interested in "take the money and run".
