Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

That's horrible, and sounds like EXACTLY what happened to me. Please complain to the Better Business Bureau about HP and this issue. You can fill out a form online, it's very easy.

I enjoy how nobody from HP (except for the "employee" who had the same problem) has decided to post anything to this thread. I work in customer service as well, and I know that ignoring customers is the WRONG approach. It only makes them more and more angry. HP needs to come on this thread and say "Sorry folks. Here's the situation..." and then lay it out. Be honest. I already know I'm being screwed, but how about a bit of truthfulness? I promise to believe whatever lies you want to tell, HP folks, and I'll even believe you when you say you're sorry. But do something!

I'm still waiting to hear back from PTS Electronics about my part. They say it should be repaired this week. The "new non-HP TV" fund is ever-growing. Now I no better than to trust HP for this kind of stuff.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

Well I have good news and bad news...

GOOD NEWS: PTS Electonics fixed the Y sustain board, and shipped it to me next day. It arrived today. I inserted the board, attached everything, and turned it on. And it works PERFECTLY.

BAD NEWS: HP still doesn't care. This is will still be the last HP product I buy. Their customer service in this situation is a FAILURE.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

My pl4260n just went out last night. It was working fine, powered it off then went to watch tv again and nothing.  I get no sound and no picture so is this a different problem? The l.e.d goes to purple then blue when powered on. Tried all the usually troubleshooting but from a little research(forums/other sites) it seems to be the main power supply.

Can anyone help with part # confirmation and if this is repairable on my own. I called tech support but 630$ is not going well with either me or my wife.
the part # they gave me is 1032301-HS .

stang,

You may have the same problem. You may not have sound because you might not be on a channel, when the display goes out it is hard to tell. Did you check the fuse on the YSUS board? Google HP Plasma lawsuit.

I'll check into the fuse. I just thought the l.e.d turning purple meant another problem.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

I think it's almost more than a coincidence that all of these TVs died all of the sudden. Looking just at this thread, how many in the last month? 5? 6?

Like the rest of you I'm going to call PTS and see what can be done.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

Thought I'd add my name to the list of people with a 4260N that went pop then black back in August. I appreciate the lead on the PTS electronics fix. I figured I was SOL. I bought my set back in the Fall of '07. I read in one posting that HP rated this TV as having an estimated life of 50,000 hours. That's 5.7 years going 24/7. I think we're getting screwed and at this point I'm done buying HP products, which personally I own a number of plus I'm responsible for IT purchases at work where I've got 40+ desktops. So they're not just losing me as a customer. You'd think they'd be smarter than that. Sayonara HP.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

Mine went out the same way 2 days ago - sound but no picture. No help from HP - $629 to send in and repair. Took off back and found blown fuse on Y SUS board, replaced fuse but now power supply cuts off after a few seconds. With fuse removed, back to no picture but sound. Checked all outgoing voltages from power supply board - all good. So must be bad Y SUS board. Bought TV 9 -18-07 so the board failure is consistantly 3 years like many others???

Yeha, we're being penalized because our TVs have worked slightly better for a longer period. The real kicker is that HP acknowledges the defect in the Y SUS board, and was repairing them free of charge up until Jan 2009. Isn't that horrible? Try PTS electonics, it worked well for me. I don't work for them, had never heard of them before someone else recommended them to me. But they were a very fast and cheap solution.

I am having this same problem.  Is there some way I can tell for sure that this Y SUS board is the problem before I find PTS and order one?  How can I get in touch with them?  And what is the part # that I need to fix this.  Thnank you in advance for the help.
