Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

It's probably a simple fix if you can find out what the problem is.  A used part from ebay would be cheaper even though there is no guarantee.  The Y board is usually the problem if you have a bad picture. Google replacing the Y board. My new plasma lasted only two and a half year and I paid over a $1,000.  It really is not just a HP problem. All plasma tv are susceptible because of poor design. Good luck.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - Add another to the group

Chalk up another blown 4260.   "Pop" and done.     Another dissatisfied HP customer.   Boycott HP products.  Mr.'s Hewlett and Packard would be very disappointed.

Agree with all the posts... the tv should last longer....   HP should make retribution even if warranty has expired...  will select other products over HP in the future....  and tell a friend.

The PTS solution does not seem to be a guarantee... and with my lack of electronics skills...  and lower costs of tv's today ...  wish I lived near HP HQ,  I would drop in their driveway.

Now, what's the best way to dispose of this beast?   Wish I could donate to an org that could fix and use ... but at $150 for the PTS fix,  that probably is not logical.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

My HP just went out, but was not in the room went it died.  I too suspect the ysus board but do not have any blown fuses there.  I do have a blown fuse (FS1) on the zsus board.  Do I have a different problem or is it still the ysus board.  My symtop is the same, no picture but still have sound.  Thanks

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

All of you do yourselves a favor. Throw your HP's in the trash. Agree not to buy another HP product for as long as you live. The PTS fix is likely to last about a year and go out again (thats what mine did anyway). Save yourself time and aggravation and hit it with a sledge. So the garbage pickers don't get frustrated too!

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

$76.00 includes expedited shipping.

I am going with Coppal Tv Repair.  Purchased through Ebay....   I have not sent my board out yet, so I am not recommending them, I am only answering the question as to the cost for the board repair.  I do recommend you go to their website if you need help locating the YSUS board or have questions.  They have a nice Q and A section with lots of pictures.

My story is the same as others.  Except I purchased the extended warranty through best buy and had them fix the tv during the covered period.  Shortly after coverage ended, it broke again.  So here I am trying to get as much use out of the tv as I can.  Good luck

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

Another disappointed consumer. Just like all the others, I purchased an HP 42 inch Plasma three years ago and now it's a piece of junk that cost over $1,200.00 bucks. To think I had a 25 inch television for 20 years with no issues. I was considering buying other HP products such as a new laptop and other products, but since this episode, I will never purchase any product from HP and will recommend to all my relatives and friends that purchasing any HP product that would last seems a dismal prospect.

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - picture just sent out, still have sound

Gee yours was inexpensive....I got mine in 2006.  Its in the garage waiting to be recycled since 2009, even if I spend abt. $400 to fix it, good luck getting parts, whose to say it will last 1 or 2 years.  HP Sucks, for they use 3rd Party components, but then who does not, that are defective less quality.

Not to mention the HP dv6000z laptop on its 5th system board, and when you try and call HP, besides the hassle of getting someone with any sense, you are made to feel like it is your fault they have crap to sell, and you fell for it again. Economy sucks as it is, why make it worse with inferior products and hope someone else will fall victim again and again, while they laugh all the way to the bank and you are trying to make ends meet, pay the rent, utilities or mortgage.

I have a 1986, 5" color TV that works, a 2003 Gateway Laptop that works, a 20" & 26" TV/VHS tape combo that work fine and still record & play VHS Tapes, a 24" AOC LED replaced the 42" HP Plasma.  Its to the point where you are afraid to turn on the HP Laptop, or HP Desktop, which I have 3 of those older than than the HP Laptop, they work, except for Bill Gates & Team still cannot get it right after how many years has Windows been the Operating System, I go back to Windows 3.0, DOS 5, and evolved using Windows 3.11, 95, 98, ME, XP Pro,  Vista and now Win 7...which ME, Vista & Win 7 suck too.

And these forums are to allow I guess for the disatisfied customer to air their issues, without resolve, only to remain frustrated and upset with HP.   They say a Laptop on an average may last a year, they want to make money off selling you a warranty too.  I have web pages up DO NOT BUY HP and other crap...I can say Crap can't I.  Freedom of Speech, or is that a thing of the past.

I bought a New Kodak printer, straight out of the box, it did not work, it went back twice before I could even use it for the first time after a month later.  They returned my printer without the power cord or usb cable, on the phone first to Bangalore India, then Memphis TN, I am told return every thing.  So you call India first so they can run you through the Check List, did you take the printer out of the box Mr. Smith, did you see the power cord and plug it in, and Mr. Smith did you turn the printer on.  My reply is, I think after using computers for over 25 years, I may know how to do that, if not can you fly to the USA and show me in case I missed something.

And why am I calling India for a product made in China or Japan and sold in America.  What no Techinicans in China or Japan or America for that matter.  And to end it all, "How May We Provide You with Excellant Service Today Mr. Smith"  and "How are you Today" oh just great I paid $2000 for a TV, after 2.5 years I have sound, but no picture and it weighs 100 lbs, I am disabled can you come get it.

So from now on, I will buy local, and so I can see the person face to face when I have a problem.  I have a web page up for DO NOT BUY HP Products!  HP got $4500 from me and all I got in return is Crap and Windows, the Non-Operating System ! - Microsoft Windows 7 Sucks, as Does Vista

I cannot wait until almost every one will be driving the "Electronic Car of the Future made by HP"  I would love to throw my HP 42" Plasma & HP Laptop right through HP Corporate Headquarters, and video it for You2ube....thanks for sharing, sorry HP messed with your wallet too....Doc

Re: 42" TV PL4260N - Garbage

We did all we were told to do and more.

Bought TV in 2008. Started going out 6mos later, HP came and put a new board in it.

That only lasted 8 mos and we started to have trouble with the TV again.  We contact HP about the problem. They informed us that we were out of the 1 yr warrenty and had to pay around 600.00 to have the board replaced again. WOW

It is 4/10 and we were just now told that you will can buy a boad on the net for as little as 300.00 and do it yourself. Nope! they do not make them anymore. So we go back to HP.

The Coustomer Service tells us that most TV's made today only last 3 years at the most and that the board we need is not made any more.   SO....What  do we do now?  HP has offered to do a buy back at 15% or 240.00. The longer you keep your broken TV the less you get in buy back.  Wish they would have mentioned this when we first had the trouble start.

BUT NOW YOU ALL KNOW.... HP is no longer in the TV business.

By the way - I just bought a box of 02 ink ($40. down the toilet) for my HP printer and it  say INK SYSTEM FAILURE.

Guess what!

BUYERS BEWARE OF HP PRODUCTS!!!!!!
