Anybody understand Wi-Fi on a Jornada 720?

Hi Guys and Guyesses,

"OK, what's the problem, Steve?"

The main problem is that I left my HP Jornada 720 at a relatives house down south when we went to visit.

It wasn't the end of the world because I had other bits of kit that would do the same job. Anyway, when we next went down there I got the 720 back but it was totally dead. I replaced the little battery under the CF card slot and left the main battery on charge for 24 hours.

Success. The Jornada 720 works like new. So new, in fact, that it had gone back to just how it was when it left the factory. No issues with that though because  before it died, I made a habit of backing everything up daily.

The only 2 problems with an otherwise perfect little machine are the Wi-fi and my stupidity

I had left the wi-fi CF card in the slot at the left end of the Jornada and now it isn't recognised.

The CF card is marked.....

"Agere WirelessLAN CF card" on one side and "Model CF-B-AG-01" on the other.

Before it died, this wi-fi card worked flawlessly with my home network.

I have a CD disk which looks like a home made copy of the original driver disk which came with the Jornada when I bought it a couple of years ago.

The problem is that I am too stupid to know what to do with it. I have installed Activesync on my PC and I am able to make a connection.

I have even tried to install the proper device drivers for this wi-fi card.

I can even access the internet BUT anything showing is as though it is being viewed on a screen from a mobile phone. All bunched up at one edge.

The CD has the following folders......

Microsoft Activesync 42

Microsoft Activesync 45

Client Manager for windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP

Win CE driver zip

The first 2 files are just the setup files to install Activesync. I'm guessing that the third file is used depending on which Operating System is being used (I use XP Professional SP3)

The last one contains sub folders for WinCE211, WinCE300, WinCE400, WinCE500-600

How would I find which is applicable to me?

I must admit to being totally lost now so any clues as to what I can try would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Steve

Re: Anybody understand Wi-Fi on a Jornada 720?

Yep, it doesn't seem to take much to kill the batteries on the Jornada.

You can find drivers for your WIFI card at: http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/h/0031.asp
or

I note you have the same problem as: http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/ipaq-hx2xxx-series/225825-hx2110-cf-wireless-card.html

Re: Anybody understand Wi-Fi on a Jornada 720?

WOW!!!

This was a blast from the past and no mistake, lol

I thank you for the information but alas, it comes too late for myself.

I sold the Jornada 720 on eBay a long, long time ago and got myself a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet which, in turn, has been updated by an Advent Netbook.

Cheers,

Steve
