The above is on the page for Drivers for the Officejet Pro 8500 A910. It is supposed to identify whether the printer requires a critical update after a scan where your printer, if you run it, will not list your printer or printers if they need no update. The program always lists mine, where I am supposed to click the box in front in order to highlight the Update button and proceed. There is something about the program box that does not permit inserting the check in that tiny box. So, I exit the program not knowing whether I need the update. As with the Printer Install Wizard, this program Critical Update to Update Printer Information works only if the printer is USB connected; however, even with the USB connection, the program still does not highlight the box in front of the printer in the program box so that the Update can proceed. I cannot remember this program ever working and it makes me wonder if something is missing from my HP software. Anyone know how to get around this problem? Incidentally, I run IE8 on Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit.
