I tried upgrading my EX490 today with an E5400 and 4GB non-ECC. After the upgrade I turned on the server and all I got was two solid aqua lights for power and network and solid violet for health. I tried reverting back to my original configuration of processor and memory, but I still get the violet light for health.
Pressing the status/recovery mode button doesn't do anything. In the user manual all I can find are the colors aqua and red, but violet is onlyt mentioned when in recovery mode. I my case I get a solid violet, so no blinking. Is my server broken or what may be wrong with it? What does the solid violet health status led mean?
Furthermore, what is the other chip on the motherboard of the EX490 that's underneath the smaller heat sink? I took that heat sink of first because I though the proc was under there. Did that break my home server?
Thanks for any pointers!

You said, "mode button doesn't do anything. In the user manual."
Did you mean the help files which loaded upon installation? I wondered because heretofor I was not aware that there was a manual available for my EX495.
