I just purchased a HD-3100 external disk. USB connection to WXP PC.
1. Thr disk does not automatically turn on when the PC does. This is unlike all other similar USB devices. You have to turn it on by pushing a button on the back. This is not practical or reasonable. How can this be fixed?
2. I bought an HP disk because of its claimed reliability, as I have had trouble with Western Digital disks before.
But now if I use "My Computer" to display the characteristics of the HP drive, it says it is actually a WD drive!
Have I wasted my money trying to avoid WD?
