"But the locks of dragging in and out are broken."  What does that mean?

I do not understand what you have tried to say.

Is something on the thumbdrive broken or on your PC?

Do you mean USB ports?

Re: HP USB FLASH DRIVE COMPLAINT

I have many different brands of thumbdrives. Sandisk cruzers work like that although I have never had one break.

Perhaps instead of drag. you mean slide or push open with your thumb.

It is still not clear to me if you mean the problem is with the PC or the usb thumbdrive.  If it is the USB thumbdrive then it is not likely to be covered by warranty.

You can contact your local HP Customer Care by email or phone  and ask if it is covered.

Re: HP USB FLASH DRIVE COMPLAINT

Have you tested the thumbdrive on another PC?

If you have and it is still not seen by the operating system on the other PC/notebook, then you very likely need to repartition and then reformat the device from within Windows.

Which version of Windows is installed in your notebook or PC?

Re: HP USB FLASH DRIVE COMPLAINT

It would help greatly if you would let me know which operating system is  installed in the notebook or PC you plan on using.

[ Edited ]

Put the usb thumbdrive in one of the USB ports in your PC or notebook.

The drive may or may not be recognized by the operating system as in the following image in Windows Explorer.

usbthumbdrive1.jpg

Leave the usb drive plugged into the port. In the Search programs and files box type Computer management and left-click on it in the list above that appears. Now left click on Disk Management and wait until the list populates itself.

usbthumbdrive2.jpg

I am unable to do anything in the disk management window. That is abnormal. I go to all programs, accessories and find command prompt and right-click on it and select run as administrator. the I type diskpart and press enter. Now I type list volume and press enter and view the list of drives in my PC . I verify that my thumbdrive (volume 7, letter J) is seen, but shows no media.  Be certain that you follow precisely what I have done and ensure the the usb drive is your target drive when you are ready to issue commands in diskpart.

Now I type list disk, press enter and then  type select disk 4 (the USB drive)

usbthumbdrive4.jpg

Now I type clean. That erases any partition on the USB disk. I type create partition primary and the results are seen in the following image.

usbthumbdrive5.jpg

Now I type format fs=FAT32 and press enter. I chose FAT32 for compatibility across operating system versions. If your thumbdrive is fairly large (mine is 8GB) it will take some time depending on the speed of the processor.

When the formatting is complete your thumbdrive is ready to use. If at first it does not work and you see the thumbdrive listed as having no media just try removing it abnormally (without safely removing it) and plugging it right back into a USB port. It does not always work, but if the drive can still be saved and you are a bit lucky it might, as in my case. It was fortunate that I happened to have an uncooperative thumbdrive at hand

that allowed me to create a tutorial for you. :smileyhappy:

At the completion of the formatting I will exit diskpart and the command line.
