Re: HP v125w 2gb flash drive not being detected by windows

I have an HP v125w 4GB flash drive which works on both Windows 2000 and 7.  However, I also have an HP v125w 16GB flash drive which works on Windows 7 but was not recognized by my Windows 2000 system.  Here is what I did to get Windows 2000 to recognize it (this may not work for everyone, but it did for me).

I plugged the 16GB flash drive into a Windows 2000 USB port and ran:

          Norton SystemWorks -> Norton Utilities -> Find and Fix Problems ->

                   Norton Disk Doctor -> Diagnose

which gave me the message:

          Insert the disk to diagnose into drive E:.

So, I ejected the flash drive, replugged it into the USB port and clicked Diagnose again.

Norton Disk Doctor accessed the flash drive, diagnosed it, and gave the following report:

There were no problems detected on drive E:
Partition Table ........... Skipped
File Structures ........... OK
Surface Test .............. Skipped

After this, the flash drive has been working fine on both my Windows 2000 and Windows 7 computers.

So, this procedure somehow woke up the drive as far as being recognizable by Windows 2000.  I hope this helps you.

Bob.
