IPAQ Model hx2495b

Yesterday my IPAQ (model hx2495b) suddenly stopped working - the screen went black. I have tried re-booting the unit and the machine turns on and gets to the point were the Windows Mobile software screen shows and then the unit goes black. It was working fine until yesterday when I signed off of Yahoo.com. The battery has never been replaced since I have owned the unit. Any ideas?
