Installing dvd1170i

I just bought a dvd1170i DVD burner yesterday and attempted to install it last night. So far nothing is happening.  It's SATA as are my hard drives, but I wouldn't expect that to be the issue.  It doesn't show in BIOS and (obviously) not in windows.  There are no drivers that I can find - it didn't come with any nor have I been able to find any online anywhere so I'm assuming it doesn't require anything proprietary to make it work.  I would also guess that this is a brand new model number as it doesn't exist on the HP site.  Any ideas?  I expected this to pretty much be plug-n-play as that's how my hard drives were.

8GB G.Skill DDR2 800

2 Seagate 500GB HDD

BFG 8800GT PCIe

Vista Ultimate 64bit
