Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

I purchased a crimson wireless comfort mobile mouse and fell in love with it.  However today it has gone beserk.  It jumps up/down/left/right and is very difficult to control.  I have to make multiple attempst to put the mouse where I want it.

  • I have unistalled the HP mouse software and gone to the site to obtain the most recent version
  • I have changed the battery (even though it says it is still in excellant shape)
  • I have searched several forums to no avail.

I really need some help as to why this mouse has gone beserk..

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

Tom, I am currently having the same problem. It has been a few weeks since you posted did you resolve your problem?? Should I have HP correct it or should I just take it back to the store for my money back????

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

Did anyone get a response to this? I just bought an HP Wireless Comfort Desktop and amongst other issues, I have this mouse problem, which seems to be worse at fine movement.

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

I never heard a response.  I did make a couple of observations.  If the mouse is near another source of wireless communication, telephone, TV remote, etc it seemed to happen more.  I did move my laptop and mouse to another part of the house and that has made a difference.  I also regularly run CCleaner on my system along with McAfee to defrag and back check CCleaner.  It still does happen but only once in a while and I do think it is because of the other wireless interference.

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

Thanks for your observations, Tom. I do have DECT phone near the receiver, so maybe that's the problem. I'll try repositioning it.

I did some other problems with the Wireless Comfort Desktop (which are described in a separate post), have you had any other problems?

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

I don't have a keyboard and I use this mouse for my toshiba laptop.  I teach and take my laptop to class and when it connects to the projector my adult students like to use a mouse for presentations.  My previous mouse's USB connection stuck way out and this much smaller connection can reside continually without me having to remove it for travel.

Concerning your keyboard, it too could be affected if it is wireless.  Another thought would be to check the typing speed for the keyboard.  Also, check the Device Manager see if it list them by name... sometimes deleting the mouse and keyboard and then rebooting forces it to make a "new" install.  Perhaps that might help.

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

Now that I've moved the DECT phone, the mouse seems to be behaving itself, which is great, thanks.

I have tried changing the settings for keyboard speed, etc, but they didn't make any difference. The correct devices are listed in Device Manager, so next time I need to reboot, I'll try removing them and see if that helps HP's software recognise it's own devices :smileytongue:

Re: Jumping/wiggling wireless comfort mouse

The more I use the mouse the less moving the DECT phone seems to have made a difference :smileysad: Given that the mouse and the receiver are less than 12 inches apart, that doesn't really surprise me though.

I tried removing the devices in Device Manager and re-detecting and I'm still in the same position as before :smileysad:
