Link-5 Micro Receiver Quit

Just purchased this Link-5 Micro Receiver  mouse a couple of weeks ago and it just decided to quit working. Hit the reset, on and off button, pulled the usb and inserted into another slot but still no action.

I very recently bought an HP Wireless Mini Keyboard (LK752AA).

I have tried using this on Windows 7 professional or window XP professinal but nothing seems to happen.

When I plug in the micro receiver I do not get a typical instal new hardware message and neither of the machines react to the additional hardware.

I my brand new link-5 micro receinver broke?

I am also struggling to find any support from the web site. When I enter product name or number the foruma nd the main support site returns product unknow!

Any help is very much appreciated.

In order for Link-5 devices to work, two things need to happen.  The USB micro receiver needs to be recognized by the system, and the device (in your case the mini-keyboard) has to be paired with the USB micro receiver.

You mentioned that you did not get a "new hardware message" when you plugged in the USB receiver.  When the receiver was first plugged into the USB port, did any type of message appear (an error message, or anything)?  In many cases, you would only see a message if this was the first time that the receiver was plugged in.  After that, Windows usually recognizes the device and does not display a message again.

If you go into Windows "device manager" do you see any items with a yellow exclamation mark next to it?

Do other USB devices work in that same USB port?

Once the system sees the USB micro-receiver, then the second step is to make sure that the keyboard (or mouse) and the micro receiver are paired.  To pair the keyboard, press the button on bottom of the keyboard and hold it in for a couple of seconds, then release it.  Hold the keyboard within a foot or so of the plugged-in micro receiver, and it should pair in a few seconds.

Hi Dave, I bought the Xb387AA wireless mini keyboard a couple of months ago. The thing is that, I don't know how, the micro usb receiver of the keyboard got lost. So I decided to buy a new link 5 product. This time I bought the cq428aa wireless mouse with link5 support. The mouse work prefectly but there is no possible way to link the keyboard. The features description from the keyboard says that it can be linked to another link5 device but I haven't had success on it. I press the connect button on the keyboard and nothing. Press it for 2, 4 10, 30 seconds and nothing. Only the mouse seems to work. I change the batteries and nothing. The mouse came with intructions on how to connect or pair two or more products but nothing seems to work nad I know the keyboard is OK.

Not a novice user and a little bit dissapointed.

what can I do? what other instructions do I have to follow?

Hi!  Regarding the last post/question (about the XB387AA HP Wireless Mini Keyboard), it is important to note that there are two different versions of this keyboard.  Both of the versions use 2.4Ghz wireless technology and a USB micro receiver.  However, the original release was XB387AA, and did not include Link-5 technology.  The Link-5 version was released later, and had the LK752AA part number.

So, in your case, you have a non-Link5 version of the HP Wireless Mini Keyboard, so that it why it is not working with your Link-5 mouse receiver.  In order to get your XB387AA keyboard to work, you will have to either find a USB receiver for it, or move to the LK752AA wireless mini keyboard.

I know that you probably already looked at this, but did you check to make sure that the USB receiver is not in it's storage compartment underneath the battery cover?

Thanks Dave, nop, the micro receiver is not there next to the batteries. Do you know a way to buy a replacement for the micro receiver? 'cause I haven't been able to find one in the hp site nor anywhere else.

The keyboard is really good and I would appreciate any help you could give me ir order to purchase the replacement.
