Hi!
I upgraded my MSS EX485 to 2.5 version of the software and run the HP MSS.dmg installer (from /Software/Mac) on my brand spanking new Macbook(running Leopard 10.5.5).
The installer completed without problem. Then Server authentication settings dialog launched. I enterd my WHS server name and my WHS server admin password, then Authenticated Green light came on.
Unfortunately, when I click on Apply or Backup, nothing happens and "Show All" Button is still greyed out. See Below:

When I went into Console application( under Applications/Utilities in Leopard), I noticed that everytime I click apply the following error message get recorded:
5/11/09 1:03:17 PM HP MediaSmart Server Control Center[710] *** -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: Server MAC)
Note: this is happening even though the Control Center was successfully authenticated.
I did uninstall and reinstall control center via both wired and wireless connections to my router, but same problem persisted.
There are also some errors in the installation log of the Control Center:
5/12/09 1:37:32 PM authexec[525] executing /Volumes/HP MediaSmart Server Software/Uninstall HP MediaSmart Server Software.app/Contents/MacOS/ScriptTool

Note: Im able to connect to my whs via Finder->connect to server to see all the shared files, but Control Center refuses to connect

Have you resolved this? I have exactly the same problem on my Mac mini and Air and can't seem to find a resolution on the net. I tried rebilding my mini from scratch but the problem is still there! I can't believe it can be just you and me!
Thanks

Nope, Havent resolved and this happend on my and my wifes macbooks.
This pretty much renders this product useless to me as far as backups are concerned.
Does HP reads these forums at all?

Ive posted the same issue on MediaSmartServer.Net:
MediaSmartServer.Net WHS Control Center on Mac
and there was at least another person who experienced the same problem.
ive listed the error messages here and there is only so much I can do to debug it. What can I do to make HP support actually look at these?

Hi. I don't know if you're still monitoring this thread, but I ran into the same problem with my new MacBook and EX485. I was able to get everything working by following the steps in the "Solutions" section of this thread. For me, it ended up being the workgroup specified in the WINS configuration page and the OS X firewall settings.
Hope this helps.
Bill
