I am facing performance issue when testing a Java applet with QTP 10 and 11 with java add-in and would appreciate any suggestions to help resolve the problem.
Java Applet UI objects become slow in loading, frames and objects become disoriented when the test is in the session for about 5 or more mins (10-12 screen navigations). QTP does continue to act upon them and continue the test but the application objects just become invisible to the user. This impacts the tests in the 2nd or 3rd iteration as the QTP/application performance worsens over time
Application Tasks –
The java applet is invoked by Microsoft internet explorer and runs in a separate browser from the one that invokes it. What we have automated are the task engine or flow of actions that we need to perform in order to provision a device.
What has been done so far-
- Made sure objects created in the script are destroyed when not in use
- Made the Java - screen capture option to only capture on errors
- Have even tried passing -Xmx512 (or maximum heap memory values) or other parameters to the Java runtime in use from Control Panel
- Applied a hotfix patch no 626 that includes a possible java fix to memory leak issues –
If anyone has faced a similar issue and resolved it, please do let me know any suggestions or a possible solution. I am looking for any system/tool settings that I will have to change in order to improve the performance of the test
