Problems with Broadcom NIC and PSP 8.7 and Firmware 9.3

We use a script that installs both the PSP and the Firmware.  However, when the Broadcom NIC driver updates is disables the NIC and the script can not continue since we pull the firmware files from a network connection.  Now, I tried the new version of Update Manager with the latest combined PSP and Firmware files as well, the result was the same.  It fails at this point and you have to reboot to regain the NICS.  Is there a fix out there for this, newer driver, etc. where you don't have to run either your script or the update manager twice in order to complete the update sucessfully.  Thanks
