Starting simplesave backup software

HD Simplesmart external hard drive (Model hp md2000h) using SimpleSave bkup software. System is Win 7 SP1 64 bit.

 

I had installed the drive (last used a few months ago) on an older machine but did not actually backup any files. I have tried to use it with my new system (above). It spins up (blue indicator light is on, not blinking) & is in the drive listing for my computer. However, no sign of the software. Opening the drive there is HPSimpleSave.exe in root. 2x-click on it = nil response. If I go into the "HP SimpleSave Application_patch" subdir & 2x-click on HPSSBackup.exe still no response. Unplugging & re-connecting the usb plug makes no difference.

 

How do I get the drive to respond & do a backup? Thanks!
