Re: USB Flash Drive v210w 16 GB error

[ Edited ]

Bonsoir,

Again, my 16 GB v210w went write protected.

Same problem. It appeared after I formatted it FAT32 on my Mac.

I tried to format it on XP with many USB drive utilities, but always sector is said to be =0 and an error is raised.

Is this flash drive Mac compatible?

How to change it? My dealer made one change but its policy doesn't allow a 2nd change.

hp should provide its customer with a new Mac compatible flash card free of charge.

Best regards,

Re: USB Flash Drive v210w 16 GB error

Hi!
I contacted hp support and got as an answer the name of a recovery utility Ufix.rar.
Unfortunately, this utility doesn't recognize the v210w.
hp-branded flash USB cards are manufactured by PNY.

So I went to the PNY website and dug a little.
Actually, the latest release is Ufix2v3.
Ufix-II (USB Flash Driver Format Tool)
Applicable for PNY/HP 4GB/8GB/16GB/32GB flash drive products
(This software is not applied to A.V.S. Attaché,
but applicable for AVS-II)
2.98MB
Download

It worked and restored my USB card.

Windows and Mac OS format utilities seem not to handle correctly the USB flash card correctly.

Mac OS says there's a 16 GB drive mounted on an USB support. I can unmount the volume without eject the USB connection.

hp: Please mention this solution on the FAQ!

Best regards,

Re: USB Flash Drive v210w 16 GB error

I was scanning pictures from my HP printer onto this drive all morning and then arranging them into files using my HP desktop. Out of nowhere, the thumb drive stops working and states that it needs formatted. I can't recover any of my work (including documents) that were on the drive that I was into earlier in the day. Is there a way to recover the items and w/o reformatting the drive?

Thanks,

Sara
