WHS Hardware Replacement

I've reached my patience limits with my old MediaSmart ex470 (with ~4TB of data).  It runs way too slow ever since the first serious update.

I'd like to purchase the newer ex495 and transfer my hard drives/data.

I understand that WHS does not work well with more than one on a network.

Does anyone have any suggestions for easing the transfer?

Is it possible to trick the OS by shutting both systems off & transferring the HDDs in the same order?  Is it possible that the OS will just think there's some new upgrades and not reformat the drives?

Additionally, will the ex495 be a reasonable enough hardware into the obvious coming Win7 based code (is there an update path for it?), or is there a new hardware/OS design coming right around the corner I should wait for?

I'd like to have the new server last for at least a couple of years without painfully slowing down as this last one did.

Please use plain text.
