df840p1 picture frame unresponsive

I was given a df840p1 picture frame, and it didn't have the remote.  The buttons on top don't seem to do anything.  I opened it up and tested the switches themselves, and they are working.  It's almost like it is in a demo mode or something.  Even when I instert a SD card, nothing happens.  The screens just scroll throught the same couple of demos, and there is a clock in the upper left hand corner, but it does nothing else.  Is there a factory reset or something I can do to bring up the menu?
