how do i make HP support assistant work?

My Hp Support Assistant does not work on my windows 7 desk top computer -- I removed & reinstalled it  3 times --   The three different people @ HP sent me to three different sites and each site said the the link has been removed . I found my own link and installed it but to no avail --  Clean out temp files will not work on the HP assistant - and Defrag will not work . I can not get passed either one . They will spin for days - . When I manually do the tasks from my desk top by passing the HP program I have NO problem ..  Please give me some guidance      Thanks Bob
