Optical drives do not need extra drivers, Windows has generic drivers that work for all optical drives, what problem are you having and what PC are you installing this in?

The system is a dell, and when the drive was installed, it would not be recognized. While device manager claimed it saw that model drive, the driver would not work. there was an exclamation point on the device with an error code.

If it is an IDE drive, Dell requires the jumper on the optical drive be set to CS (Cable Select) Check it to be sure it is set to CS
Its on the back of the drive
