Hi, I have a HP simple save sd320a portable hard drive. After backup, when I explore the hardrive, I cannot see the backedup files on the portable drive. Can anybody help please?

Do you see any folders/files on the SimpleSave drive at all? It's been a while since I've worked with one, but I think the backups go into a subfolder, like "1", and then there is a folder under that for the drive letter and/or PC name?
If there are some folders on the SimpleSave drive, you may need to browse down a couple of levels before you see your backup files.
Also, note that SimpleSave drives shows up with 2 drive letters, one appears as a CD-ROM, and the other as a hard drive. When looking for your backup files, be sure to look on the hard drive and not the CD-ROM.
Hope that this helps.

Dear David,
Many thanks for the help. Unfortunately although the device recognises my PC the the backup area is completely blank. There are no files and folders. I get the confirmation that its been successfully backed up but when I explore, there is nothing there.
Also when I get the message to update my version, it downloads the latest version and then the install shield starts up and I get the message.
Transfer error
J:\HP SimpleSave Application_patch\BackupServiceInstaller.exe
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable
I am baffled and I really appreciate your help.
Regards

Hi, I haven't seen this type of situation before. Did you try and check the hard disk for errors? Right click on the simple save drive letter in Windows Explorer->Properties->Tools (tab)->Check now (button)
What happens if you drag and drop a new file to the simple save hard drive using Windows Explorer?
Thanks!
