Re: windows 7 - 64 bit and HP support assisstant

Hi,

From the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, then right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.

sfc /scannow                ( there is a space between sfc and the / )

Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.  Restart the PC and see if this has helped at all.

Best wishes,

DP-K

I recently updated to 5.1.10.7 and now I have this problem HPSF_Utils.exe - Application Error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

and on the title of the software it says An error has occured and some texts are missing and i can't click on any buttons like update or anything.. just close the program

I tried your method above and nothing was wrong, it did 100% verification and it didn't note anything signaling there was errors or anything

Re: windows 7 - 64 bit and HP support assistant

Hi.

I have the same problem on my new HP ProBook 4320s with windows 7 64b. I have tried to install the newest version of the HP support assistant. The problem continues. I have tried to set the compatibility to XP SP2, still the same.

Best,

Edit: I have found the fix to this problem. This problem stems from antivirus/internet security you have. I had Zone Alarm Internet Suite, disabling or shutting it down wasn't enough, I uninstalled it and viola! It's working again. The latest version works now!

Re: windows 7 - 64 bit and HP support assisstant

Trying to install the newest  version of HP support assistant I get the following error message: Error 1316...can't read from file C:\Windows\Installer\HP Active Support Library.msi.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't understand your comment.  What is working again?  Did you reinstall Zone Alarm?  I have the same problem on my HP  laptop and I use Zone Alarm.  But I like Zone Alarm as a firewall and anti-virus.

The HP Support Assistant latest version works now, before with Zone Alarm producst it didn't work. If you like Zone Alarm it might not work well with HP Support Assistant, if it works let mek now. Regarding Error 1316, you have to use Windows  Installer Cleanup Utility to fully remove HP Support Assistant then proceed to reinstall HP Support Assistant from this website:
