I have a HP EliteBook 8440p laptop, on which someone placed a Bios Administrator password. No one in the IT Department knows whatit is and no one knows who did this. I have removed the RTC battery (our of the laptop for 75 minutes) hoping that this would reset the Bios to default without the password. This did not work and when I restarted the laptop I got a CMOS error of 502, which then tells me to restart the laptop and I get the password request again.
Is there a backdoor Bios password to get around this problem?
Any help is appreciated.

There is no backdoor password that I'm aware of and if you've already tried removing the CMOS battery, it would look like the password is stored in nvram. Your best option is to contact HP using the links below and arrange to have this corrected.
