Re: Best free anti-virus for Windows 7

I like the new free Microsoft Security Essentials which is both an anti-virus and anti-spyware program. It is self updating and has a small footprint (does not take up a large amount of disk space and it does not slow down your PC as some other Av programs do. Link to info and the download is here: http://www.microsoft.com/security/products/mse.aspx

Hi:

It is recommended that you should never have two or more AV programs installed and running at the same time. Uninstall whatever one you are currently using before installing a new AV program.  Some AV programs are very invasive and require special removal tools. Some antivirus manufacturers like Norton have a support site where you should use their removal tool to remove their AV program.  Simply uninstalling from the control panel > add/remove programs is not good enough in some instances.
