My computer isnt a notebook, its a HP Pavilion DV7 laptop, but the only options on the dropdown were notebook and desktop boards.
Anyway, my issue is that some of the online links wont open. I am using Internet Explorer. I tried compatibility view and still I get a blank page on 75% of the pages I try to open. Is it a setting I need to change?

Hi,
There is a general convention now that 'laptops' are referred to as notebooks - this was all part of an attempt to dissuade people from resting the machines on their laps which can block the airvents and cause over-heating - still guilty of doing this myself though ![]()
Try the following.
Click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Open Programs and Features, Click 'Turn Windows features on or off' and remove the tick next to Internet Explorer 9 Click Yes then OK and then when done, restart the notebook.
When Windows has restarted, click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Open Programs and Features, Click 'Turn Windows features on or off' and re-enter the tick next to Internet Explorer 9. Click Yes then OK and when this has finished installing, restart the notebook again.

Hi,
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start up to access Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select 'Safe Mode with Networking' and hit enter. Let windows fully load in this mode and see if links open correctly - only choose known 'safe sites/links' such a Microsoft or HP as your security software will not be running while in this mode. To exit Safe Mode, simply restart the notebook in the usual way and Windows will start normally.
Let me know the result.
