Re: CASLExec stopped working

I tried both of those links and neither of them work.  I have already deleted the old file and need a working link to a file to replace this with something that WORKS!!!

Re: CASLExec stopped working

It seems that you are replying to my answer to fix the caslexec error? So to clarify, I did not post links, those are steps with slashes to divide them. If you have Windows 7 and possibly ealier versions, the fix is archived on your computer. To restore this file to your computer follow step 2: Start button/ all programs/recovery manager folder, select Recovery manager file. Select Software Program Reinstallation, select HP Support Assistant from the list.

Re: CASLExec stopped working

I started getting this error after uninstalling my HP DJ F4500 that was also causing major problems, and I also got an additional error message when unistalling HP Support Assistant. (something to do with an error getting security info on a temp file) What I did to fix this problem involves a registry modification that gives you the "take ownership" option in the right-click menu. (see http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vist...) (also applies to Windows 7)

For anyone who is getting a similar error: (MAY ONLY APPLY TO x64)

The file mentioned was in the temp folder, so from the start menu, type "run" and press enter. In the run field type "%temp%". This will take you to the temp folder. The file mentioned was the x64 folder, (if your error mentions another file, do this to that file instead) so right click and then click "take ownership" with the UAC logo on the left.

Also, I don't know if it made a difference, but I used the "uninstall HPSA.exe" that was in the temp folder as well, and when I selected uninstall HP support assistant, it gave the message: "Already uninstalled" and removed the entry.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Re: CASLExec stopped working

I keep getting a message that says CASLExec has stopped working.  When I search the web regarding this message it says that this is CASLExec.exe is something from HP.  I can't find it anywhere in my computer.  Does anyone have insight on correcting this issue?
