I've had two newer notebooks but both have died out of warranty yet this old N600c is still going. However, I wish to have a backup and be able to boot from a USB Flash drive (thumbdrive, pendrive).
Please tell me how to make this model detect flash drives as a boot device? It detects USB Hard Disk Drives okay but I have failed at making a flash drive work.
Is it a deficiency with the notebook or with myself? I have found reports on the internet of success so I assume I am just doing something wrong.
I have the latest Bios from the HP website and have tried with "USB legacy support" on.
Thanks

With the flash drive plugged in and the PC off, start the PC and hit F9 when you see the HP logo to get the boot device list, if it does not show up there, then that Laptop cannot boot from a flash drive.
