Can Windows 7 or XP be installed on an hp 2000-2b09WM Notebook PC?

If anybody's tried this, please let me know how it went for you and where you got a good price on the Operating System. I'd like to replace the silly Windows 8 OS in my new hp2000-2b09WM Notebook PC with Windows 7 or Windows XP.

You need to read link below on downgrade rights:

Windows 7 genuine retail media can be found in this link:

Hi:

It is highly unlikely that you can install XP based on the hardware in your machine.

Installing W7 64 bit is easily doable if you can get it to install in the first place.

It is also highly doubtful you can install any 32 bit operating system on your PC due to the lack of 32 bit drivers.

Normally you need to enable legacy mode in the BIOS to install W7.

Once you get W7 x64 installed, you first install the AMD chipset driver and reboot.  First file listed.

Then all of the W7 x64 drivers (DO NOT USE BIOS FILES)from this related model should also work on yours.

Your notebook does not qualify for downgrade rights to W7 Pro because it didn't come with W8 Pro.

Accordingly, you will need to purchase either an OEM version of W7 x64 or a retail version of W7 x64...the difference being that you can only install the OEM version once on one PC (non-transferrable), and the retail version can be transferred from one PC to another.

If you live in the USA, Walmart.com seems to have the best price around for W7 x64 OEM.

The retail version is about twice as much.
