Product name is HP Notebook 584037-001
Operating System is Windows 7
When I try to start the computer I get an explorer.exe application error. When I click the x or the okay button it will then bring me to a black screen and that's as far as I can get. I am only able to start the computer in safe mode. There were no changes made to the computer before this happened. I have tried several different things and nothing has worked. I tried to do a system restore three times and it was unsuccesful each time. I have used a registry repair with no luck as well as running scans for viruses, malware, etc. I tried clicking F8 to see if I could go back to the last good configuration and that didn't help either. Is there anything else I can try to do before contacting someone to repair it? Thanks!

While in safe mode open an elevated command prompt,
into the prompt and hit enter, it will take a while to complete the scan, when it completes close CP and restart into regular mode, does windows load now?

Thank you for your reply. That is actually one of the things I tried. It told me that it didn't find anything once the scan was completed.

I assume windows will not load normally?
load elevated CP again in safe mode, this time run a checkdisk.
chkdsk /r C:
it will tell you it cannot check the disk now and ask to schedule on next restart, say yes and restart the PC, load safe mode again, chkdsk should run before safe mode cpmpletely loads, it will take quite some time to complete depending on the size of the C drive, do not interrupt the process, when it is done safe mode should load, then attempt a restart into regular mode.
