Hi there,
two years ago i purchased an HP notebook for my wife as a gift, which she loved. She used it for her home business with great success. Unfortunately, last week they broke in when we were away and stole her notebook. The damage was contained somewhat because she is a firm believer in backups and had a very recent copy of her business data. I had set up her notebook with a boot up password, and believe the thief(s) will need technical help to bypass it. Since we live on a small island, is there a way (other then the police, which we've already taken care of) that we can send a general message to all HP support vendors and dealers to report the laptop as stolen ? We were hoping to find a lead if they come to any dealers to request help to break the boot-up password.
Any help is welcome and most appreciated.

Hi:
Sorry about your misfortune.
If you have the notebook model # and serial number, perhaps it would be worth your while to report it to HP as stolen. If you don't have the serial number to the notebook, then I doubt there would be anything HP could do to flag that particular notebook as stolen.
