Re: Curser is skipping around while typing

My Mini 311 did similar things except it was even more messed up. As I would type the cursor would sometimes jump to the previous line in the middle of it, sometimes it would jump two words over to the left. I called HP. They said that 5 out of 100 they ship are defective. Not very good if you ask me. I think they have some real QC problems in CHINA. I dont think in that factory they test the machines thoroughly before going out, or it could have got knocked around in transit. The back cover when I received it wasnt seated fully and I had to snap it back into place. The funny thing is that they wanted me to send it in to fix and I only had the unit a week when receiving it. I called them and they explained they only have a 20 day return policy or exchange from the day you purchase. Thats crap since it takes a week and a half to build and ship. HP sucks if you ask me.

Re: Curser is skipping around while typing

I'm about to return my SECOND 210-1090 mini notebook because of this problem: cursor AND touchpad jumping around/not working.  I spent over 13 hrs. total dealing with tech "support" and another few hours with "customer service".  (i have already had to stop and correct THIS entry because of this 6 times!)  At no time did they even HINT that this is an ongoing - and not new - issue.  Yet NOW, after I told them I'm writing the president, I see they've REDUCED THIS MODEL!

Both minis were BRAND NEW and I was SO excited to finally have something I could carry around easily, to do my writing.   But, it has been perhaps the biggest purchasing NIGHTMARE I HAVE EVER ENDURED (and I have YEARS of consumer experience, believe me)!

While I have tried EVERYTHING mentioned in the forums I've seen (along with the hours worth of UTTERLY USELESS tech "support" directives that had me reformatting, reinstalling, etc.), NOTHING HAS WORKED!  And as you can see, I am once again having to waste another SLEEPLESS night on trying to solve this so I don't have to go through another 'return' or 'exchange!!!  But, I guess it's yet another return for me and another few hours of my life waste on the phone with them.

And yes, I've tried downloading touchpad software suggested in other posts AND turning the touchpad off by tapping the upper left corner BUT IT DOESN'T USUALLY WORK!  And NEVER once you've ALREADY BEGUN TYPING!  That makes turning it off, NOT an option, really - especially if you're using QuickWeb or Mail because to even access the programs I HAD TO ADD MYSELF, I have to open my WINDOWS!!!

The folks @ HP should be ASHAMED of themselves!  I only encountered ONE person amidst the numerous with whom I dealt, who TRULY offered CUSTOMER SERVICE and understanding.  I will let EVERYONE know, ANYWHERE I can, about my experience here.  What a MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

Re: Curser is skipping around while typing

I came here looking for a solution to this problem.  I tried turning off the tapping on my brand new HP pavilion netbook, and so far, with a test email message and with this message, I've not had even one skip.  My system is a 64bit Windows 7, with a 32 bit older mouse.   I'm hopeful that this fix will be permanent!!!  Thanks to the forum being here so I could discover the information I needed.
