Sorry for the late reply. Yes Touchfreeze should make a difference. If it still happens occasional,try reinstalling the touchpad drivers or follow some of the steps mentioned in the previous posts:

Also complete all the windows updates available.

So the suggestions work...BUT WHY do we have to go thru this???

If within warranty, do you recommend sending the laptop back?

I've had laptops for over 15 years and this has never happen before.

And what difference would installing a touchfreeze be to just turning off the touchpad by doing a tap tap?

Hi...

Yes these issues were not present till Windows XP. Seen mostly in Vista and sometimes in 7..This is an OS and software issue and happens in word,wordpad....etc..It is seen in all brands of notebooks with Vista or 7...so chances are it might happen in another notebook also..or may not happen at all..

The real cause of the problem is some sort of a coding issue with binary stuff so difficult to understand for me. Touchfreeze just adds some more codes to it and stops it..Touchfree is just one of them..Thats the best explanation i can give...

These are all workarounds and not perfect solutions..I am sure Microsoft is working on it and there will be a permanent solution in upcoming Windows 8...Rather i havent seen it in the pre-release versions..

hp guy told me to download touchpad something...., but I couldn't get it to work.
