Fingerprint reader and Firefox 4

I have a two year old Hp dv6 Notebook. When i got mozilla firefox 4 the Persona Personal add on was disabled due to incompatibility. So i wrote to the company and they told me they wont release any updates anymore. Is there anything I can do now? Can I get a new driver from somewhere else?

Re: Fingerprint reader and Firefox 4

Hi,

First of all you will need to uninstall your current version of DigitalPersona.

Next, download the following file.

http://www.egistec.com/websitedownload/patch/bioexcess/HPSimPlePass7.0.74.0.zip

This should work for IE9 or Firefox 4.  This is a zipped file.  If you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip which can be used to open this so that you can run the installer.  Again, when the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

Regards,

Re: Fingerprint reader and Firefox 4

Hi,

What is the full Model No. or Part No. of your notebook?

What operating system and version are you using?

Do you still get this error if you start the installation by right clicking the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator'?

Re: Fingerprint reader and Firefox 4

Try downloading and reinstalling the sensor driver on the link below.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp44501-45000/sp44993.exe

After the installation, restart the notebook then download and install Revo Uninstaller from the link below.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-freeware-version.php

Run revo and use it to uninstall HP SimplePass.  Right click on the icon of this program and select Uninstall.  During the process you may be asked to delete registry entries, just select all and then click delete.  Do the same for any left over files and folders.  Once the uninstall has completed, reboot the notebook again.

Now try reinstalling SimplePass by right clicking the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator'.  When done, check in the list of Firefox Extensions that 'Online Accounts Extension 1.1' is installed and Enabled.
