Fn+F10 dims the screen instead of increasing brightness. Win7 8530w. Please help.

Hi I have a problem with display brightness, after installing QuickLaunch, I installed "System default setings for Windows 7" http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...  to my 8530w (Win7 Pro 32). Brightness buttons stopped working properly. Now, Fn + F10 dims the light to the level of 36 (can tell from looking in Windows Mobility Center), which is the oposite to what it is supposed to do to increase brightness. I can change brightness 0-100 in Windows Mobility Center only. Using  Fn+F9/F10 I cannot control brightness properly, brightness progress is shown but it only moves 1/3 of the progress bar not more. I reinstalled Quick Launch, removed System default setings for Windows 7, nothing... Playing with power schemes, ambient light sensor do not help. I could live with setting brightness without F9/F10 but that is very inconvenient. It would be great if someone could help. Thanks

Re: Fn+F10 dims the screen instead of increasing brightness. Win7 8530w. Please help.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue with my laptop.

Can you tell mee which software versions you use?

HP Quicklaunch: 06.50.04.02

Nvidia Quadro 770M: 8.16.11.8918

OS: Windows 7 Pro, 64bit

Again: brightness sensor works fine, enabling/disable also fine.

Brighness up/down work fine but are limited between about 10%-40% of the brightness controlled by slider in Control Panel.

Hope to hear an answer from somebody...
