G62 Battery problems

It hasn't been a year yet but i think I need a new battery for this laptop. When I go and run a battery check on HP support Assistant it is displaying an error message. I have reinserted the bettery and a/c adapter but it still displays the same number. I have warranty on this so I need to figure out if I need to get a replacement. In order to figure this out i need the battery check to work correctly. Can someone please help me fix this problem!???

Take a look at the barcoded sticker on the bottom of your notebook and post everything you see there except the serial number.  

 

I need that information so I can do some research and find out if there have been any BIOS updates or QFEs made available that might address the issue.


Which operating system is installed and which processor is installed. (HP Support Assistant)

thank u! Okay so My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium, its Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU T4500.

Im not sure if this is the serial Number but this is what ot says on the back: 584037-001

Hi,

Is that a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?


Here is a link to your notebook's support pages.


I suggest that you update the BIOS to the current version. (Software & Driver downloads)


Apply all of the QFE (microsoft quick fix engineering ) for Windows 7 (Operating System - Enhancements and QFEs


What is the specific error message that you are seeing?


Use the HP Support Assistant and run the status check.

same problem. I bought my parents the G62 last year and they just told me they are having problem. (you know how parents are sometimes and wait till things get bad). I get all there info and turns out it is 1 year and 6 days old. Yes i know it is 6 days past but something is wrong with you product and I know i am not the only one.

I have the same problem the laptop tells me that the battery needs replacing, and now the power supply keeps flicking on and off and does not even try to charge the battery. The power issue is now becoming a problem as sometimes it flickers on and off which dims and brightens the screen everytime it happens till eventually the laptop loses power and switches off.

 

This laptop was bought in December 2010 and battery issues were first discovered in January 2012 which as you can see is just 1 month out of warranty.

 

Even my breakdown cover on the product advised that the battery was not covered in their cover either so it looks like I will need to buy a new battery.

 

This laptop was bought to replace a compaq NX9010 which unfortunately was damaged after 7 years of use with only 1 battery replacement, so how can HP battery quality be so bad after 7 more years of research?

 

This has really removed the confidence I have in HP products, when i used to tell people this is a brand I trust and being a brand designer myself has influenced many of my clients over the years to buy HP.

To be completely honest I personally feel that I may not spend money on a product which is not fit for purpose and i will possibly cut my loses and buy Apple from now on, Meaning the G62 will see the bin soon.
