G62 hard drive

I have a HP G62-227CA laptop and would like to know if the hard drive in it would work in a HP G62-228CL.  Or what is the closest G62 laptop it would work in?
The reason I'm asking is because the cpu in the G62-227-CA is dying, so I took the hard drive out of it in the hopes I could find a used HP-G62 to put it in so it
would just boot up and work "thinking" it was my G62-227CA.

Thank u very much

Hi:

You can try it but I doubt it will boot right up.

Your notebook has AMD hardware and the HP G62-228CL has Intel hardware.

You would need to install it in a G62 notebook with AMD hardware.

Re: G62 hard drive

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I cannot--other than the same model you have now.

Re: G62 hard drive

Y wud the kind of processor matter?  A guy at HP told me it wud work in any HP G62, but for some reason, I question that.

Also FYI, I have a Win 8 laptop brand new, but I have NO idear how to work a Win 7 hd in a Win 8 pc

To clarify, I have 2 laptops..one Win 7 with cpu dying & one Win 8 brand new.  I wanna clone Win 7 hd to get to it

Re: G62 hard drive

Hi:

If it has an AMD processor, it may not matter what AMD processor it has.

If it has an Intel processor, all I can say is give it a try. I doubt it will work, but you will never know unless you try.

In order to even try installing a W7 HDD in a W8 PC, you will need to change a BIOS setting.

See this guide...
