when opening my computer, it said boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. insert windows installation disc & resatrt. what is this installation disc?

Usually means the hard drive has failed, test it to be sure. post back any error or failure messages

i try to test the hard disc using the built in self test, after 82% the computer shut off and a message appear that the unit was overheat...
maybe the fan is not working anymore

hard drive test & memory test pass.
what will i do next? i dont have a copy of windows operating system. where can i download this file?
if the operating system is installed, are the existing files deleted?

HI i was wrong in my first reply. during the primary hard disk self test, it was 100% complete and next was long test. at 25% it stop running and a message appear "hard disk 1 full (305) and i click ok and it did not continue or finish the long test.
what does it mean? hard drive is damaged?

Yes the hard drive is failing, replace the hard drive with a new one of equal size (gb) and use the HP recovery media to reinstall Windows.
