Soo...I just bought this HP DV4-1225DX laptop off of eBay.com and it came with no operating system and I tried to install Ubuntu and when in it said that there were no partitions nor hard drives....and when I unplugged it it immediately shut off...with the battery fully charged...and then the wifi card can't find my network...ugh... I think it may be a bios problem...is there a way to flash your bios without an operating system? If so how?... Thanks in advance!

Heres a topic covering that>
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware/DV4-1120us-b
a lot of people with dv4 got corrupted INSYDE BIOS after update getting no BIOS at all, just black screen and glowing Caps/Numlock many of them solved their problem using this method:
1. Download BIOS from HP support & drivers. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
2. Extract sp49569 ( for dv4-1225dx)
3. Format your USB in FAT and copy the file 30FBF55.FD (dv4-1225dx) and rename it to 30FB.BIN
4.shut down computer and remove battery
5.disconect DC adapter and plug USB with 30FB.BIN in it.
6.Hold down "windows" and "b" keys
7.Plug DC adapter
8.Turn on computer, when leds light up release buttons "windows" and "b"
This will enter CRM ( crisis recovery mode ) you will hear beep sounds wait a while and your BIOS will be restored, you will see activity on ur thumbdrive during this process.
Hope this work for you. Greetings

Hi, I have a dv4-2048ca. The corresponding bios update's fd file is "3642F18.fd".
Does the same procedure work? Do I change the name to "30FB.BIN" or "3642.BIN"?
Thanks

Hi,
I have the HP dv24 2160us. What is the corresponding .BIN file for my model? Exact same problem, by the way.
Thanks
