I just bought an HP Envy 17, how do you take out the battery?
(and on another note)
Its brand new and since I plugged it in it says that it's charging but it's not registering how much (the percentage) of battery life it has, there is just a big red "X" in the battery icon with a plug next to it.
What do I do?

Please perform a battery test using HP Support Assistant program. If you need the exact steps to take out the battery, please provide the model number and product number of your Envy 17.

Vidya

There is a known issue with certain HP Envy 17 notebooks as the battery could possibly be in "Ship Mode".
Please go through the following document and this might help resolve the issue:
You need to install the latest BIOS available for your notebook from the support and driver download page on hp.com
