I got a HP G71-340us Notebook computer for christmas last year. For a couple of months my computer was telling me to consider replacing my battery because the battery life got worst. Soon i could take it off and in a matter of minutes it will turn off then one day I get on in the morning and try to get on a few hours later and the computer wont turn on. I notice that when I took the battery out and plugged the charger in my white light would come on for ten seconds and cut off. I bought a new battery and it fits and tried to boot up and it still wont show the white light letting me know that it is charging. I'm thinking it is the charger, but i dont want to spend extra money if thats not the case. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!!

If the light is not indicating that the ac adapter is charging the AC power adapter may need to be replaced. You can contact HP to see if your PC is still under warranty..If the PC is still under warranty ac adapter should be included in your factory warranty. I hope this information helps.

I also have an HP G71-340US laptop. It will not do anything. There are no lights on laptop when plugged in. I know the battery is bad. I have to plug it in to use it. I have tried another HP power adapter that I know is good. Still nothing. I removed the motherboard battery, pressed power button for 30 seconds, replace motherboard battery with new battery. Plugged power cord in and the white light next to adapter port lights up for about 10-15 seconds and goes out. No other lights are working on laptop. No hard drive spin, nothing. I have removed memory and tried to power up, but nothing. Rotated memory dimms 1 at a time, still nothing. Help!

I have the same problems with my G71-340us. the only light showing is the one next to the power plub. Have you had any results in fixing your laptop.

I'm having the same exact problem people keep telling me to unhook the battery, ac power and drain the battery and it does not work. I bought a new baterry and AC power adapter and still no power. The charger light only stays on for about ten seconds after it is plugged in and only lights up without the battery installed.
I guess these laptops/notebooks have an internal power system just like the desktops used to with the fan. I wonder if that can be the problem. Did you find a fix ?
