HP MINI 311 1000 CTO-PC

Hello,

As a premise, I will say that I have at least some minimal experience as a Tier II Desktop Technician, which entails building, repairing, and trouble shooting various computer station issues. I am also a sophomore in college enrolled for an Information Systems Degree and a United States Submarine Veteran.:robotvery-happy:

My problem, that I came across, was some random beeping in correlation with the activity of the hard drive. I have heard this before with an infrequent periodicity. I overlooked it as it seemed to only happen when my processor, and or hard drive, was working hard. I am a power user and frequently multi task at the limits of my netbook's capabilities.

This time around was not infrequent. I did not accurately measure the timing but I would say around maybe 4-8 times every 15 seconds. (16-32/min) :manindifferent:A little ridiculous if you ask me. Towards the end, I first closed out about 8-10 chrome tabs, and then started to run (and am still running) a whole system scan in AVG. After which, I started searching on google, and HP's website, the issue to no avail. However, curiously, 15-20 minutes after all of this it stopped. :mansurprised:

Does anyone have any info as to what this beeping may indicate?:smileyindifferent: Does the hardrive normally make some off-pitched "System-Beep" when handling a heavy load? I saw no processes in TaskMan hogging any resources in correlation to the activity. I also, have no other obvious symptoms of a virus or spyware, such as sporadic shut downs, suspicious processes in TaskMan ,or slow start ups. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,:smileyhappy:

Melvin

Re: HP MINI 311 1000 CTO-PC

Hi,

I would test HDD / RAM and check temperature of components by using for example HWMonitor.
