HP Pavilion DV2740se-Just died on me for no reason. Will not Power Up. Need Advice

I decided to try this post to see if i can get any answers.  I have the HP Pavilion DV2740se laptop, model KC448UA.  It has been working great for me, no glitches, the occasional vista problems, but no blue screen, no charging problems, no flickering lcd screen, no bootup problems. I have had it for about a year now and the warranty expired on March 4th.  Well last week, i used it on tuesday with no problem, and wednesday morning i attempted to turn it on and nothing!!!!  I took it to best buy and they said i needed a new motherboard.  Any ideas.  HP wants me to send it off to replace the motherboard for $398........  The flat rate for repair is 298, but for a mother board repair is 398, but I don't even know if that is the problem.

I went ahead and ordered a repair service through HP.  I also was wondering if anybody knows if HP will give feedback to me on what they did to fix the HP and whether or not I will be able to receive the malfunctioning parts back to me.  And if i will see a 100 refund if its not the mother board.
