HP Pavilion DV7-1232NR Mute button

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion DV7-1232nr and its been working fine but I'm having a few problems with the touch buttons and was wondering if anyone could help. Occasionally the volume flashes up and down (usually pressing my finger lightly on either volume up or down stops it and if i hold it there a minute it stops it for a while) but my main problem is that every single time I hit my mute button it not only mutes the computer, it disables wireless. when I press the button a second time to un-mute the computer it enables wireless, but doesn't un-mute the computer. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

resintall the quicklaunch software

Click start

in start seach type 'recovery manager'

hit enter

wait for the recovery manager to pop up

it is either under program recovery or driver recovery..

reinstall the quick launch button software

this should resolve your issue

I reinstalled the button drivers and they worked for about a week, now they don't work at all however and i have reinstalled them two more times. The volume flashes up and down when i hit the volume control the first time and from then on none of the quick launch buttons effect anything.

I had success fixing a similar mute button problem by rolling back the audio driver, which I had installed as being a later version, to the original driver which was apparently more compatible with my particular notebook (HP dv6745us laptop).

I've had a similar problem where none of the touch controls worked on my pavilion dv7-1123ca...I looked all over the internet on how to fix it...nothing worked...

I tried rebooting...nothing...

I tried reinstalling the drive...nothing

did a system restore...nothing

Finally...I unplugged the lappy...took out the battery...pushed the power button to drain all capacitors...stuck battery back in...powered up...everything works 100% ...

the moral of the story:  with any and all electornics...if it's broke...reboot it...if rebooting doesn't work...take out the battery and put it back in...

I had the same problem with the DV6 I just purchased. I spent two hours on the phone with HP support. I am still having the same problem. My wireless goes off and will not turn back on and my sound constantly goes up and down. Anyone else who has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm just pinging back to inform that this solved the problem for me too. Booting up without the battery whilst being plugged in. I've previously tried out reinstalling the HP Quick Launch Button driver a dozen times, along with updating the BIOS: Nothing worked... So thanx a bunch for this tip!

i had this problem with all my touch buttons (wifi, mute and sound slider), and the dry startup worked out fine for me.
